About the Speaker:
Chanel Jackson |Executive Director | Families Helping Families Region 7
Chanel Jackson is a passionate advocate, dedicated community leader, and accomplished nonprofit executive with nearly two decades of experience supporting individuals with disabilities and their families. As the Executive Director of Families Helping Families Region 7, she has devoted approximately 18 years to empowering families, promoting inclusion, and ensuring that individuals with disabilities have access to the resources, services, and opportunities they need to thrive.
Under her leadership, Families Helping Families Region 7 serves families across nine parishes in Northwest Louisiana, providing information, education, training, advocacy support, and connections to vital community resources. Chanel is deeply committed to helping parents understand their rights, navigate complex systems, and become confident advocates for their children.
Her passion for family empowerment extends far beyond her role as Executive Director. Chanel serves as Vice Chair of the Shreveport Mayor's Advisory Council on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance and chairs the Before the Last Straw Caregiver Empowerment Day Committee. Through these leadership roles, she works to strengthen community partnerships, elevate the voices of families, and promote greater accessibility, inclusion, and support for individuals with disabilities and their caregivers.
Chanel's dedication to community service and leadership has earned her recognition, including being named a 2026 50 Under 50 honoree. Under her leadership, Families Helping Families Region 7 was also recognized as a 2026 Silver Winner for Best Nonprofit in Shreveport-Bossier.
As both a nonprofit leader and a parent, Chanel understands the importance of equipping families with knowledge, encouragement, and meaningful support. She believes that every child deserves to be safe, valued, protected, and given the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.
Through her work, Chanel continues to champion family engagement, disability awareness, caregiver empowerment, and stronger systems of support for children and families throughout Northwest Louisiana.
Her guiding belief is simple: When families are informed, supported, and empowered, children and communities are stronger.
